Last Blog

Hi everyone, how are you? Today I am writing my last blog. Blog is a good practice to learn English, and especially for improving your writing. I enjoyed a lot to share my every day’s activities with you guys. I feel very happy when Mrs. Soffer gives the comment about my blog. She is very nice teacher. She always gives the comments in positive ways.  I will defiantly miss this time. I didn’t know how quickly almost whole semester finished. Bye everyone, have a good time.

Mother's Day

Hi everyone, how are you? I want to tell you about something. Today my son brought mother’s day card from his school. He made that card at school. I thing his teacher helped him to make a card. It is very beautiful. He wrote many comments about me, and drew beautiful painting on the card. He told me that he spent two days to complete that card. Every year he makes card for me on that day. It was just piece of paper, but it made me happy.

Punjabi Dance Bhangra

Hi everyone, how are you? Today I am going to tell you about Punjabi dance bhangra. Bhangra is a folk dance. It is based on music from a Punjabi folk drum. Mostly it’s a boys’ dance, but now girls are involving in this dance too. In this dance, dancers have to move their whole body according to the music. Bhangra is a group dance, and all participates have to move their body such as legs and arms on the same time. You need a lot of energy to do that dance. I don’t know that dance, but my husband knows it very well. It is very a interesting dance. I didn’t try to learn that dance. Please see the video to know more about that dance I attached below.

Sikh Day Parade

Hi everyone, today we had sikh day parade. It took place in Manhattan from 36 streets and Madison ave   to 23 streets. It happens every year in April. Parade based on birth of sikh religion. It is very long parade, and people come from different states and celebrate together in Manhattan. Today was 24^th parade in New York. We went there around 12pm by train. It was very interesting parade. There were around 100 thousand people. There was variety of free food for everyone. My kids enjoyed a lot there, and we stayed there around four hours and then we came back home.

Speech

Hi everyone, today was my speech. I didn’t know what happened with me. I wanted to say more about my transformation but I couldn’t do that. I became little emotional because whenever I talked about my marriage I always became emotional. I think this is very hard part in women’s life when she has to leave her parents. I was very sad that time because I had to go very far away from my parents. I didn’t spend a single day without my parents when I was in India.

Today

Hi everyone how are you? After vacations today was first day at school. It was hard to wake up early morning. I put alarm at 4:30am when alarm range I turned it off and sleep for another hour. Finally at 5:30 I woke up, and I took shower. After doing my prayer I got ready for class. My son did not have school today because of ester. I didn’t have to get him ready for school, so I ready little early. I had my breakfast and then I started from home at 7:30 and I reached NCC at 7:50.

Last day of holidays

Hello everyone today is last holiday and tomorrow we have class. I had so much fun in the holidays with my family. We enjoyed maximum time together. My son had also holidays and he had some demands to go out, so we completed his demands. Whatever the free time I got I focused on my study. I really like my class mates and my teacher. In the holidays I missed them. Three more weeks and then semester will finish. Time is flying looks like I stared this semester a few days age, but it almost done. Bye everyone see you tomorrow.

Queens Zoo

Today we went to Queens Zoo. We left from our home around 11am, and we reached their 11:20am. We had very nice time in the zoo. Kids enjoyed a lot. We saw many kids of animals and birds in the zoo. We took horse ride. Queens Zoo is not very far from my home, its 20 minutes drive. It was good outing, and we didn’t get tired because Queens Zoo is not very big comparatively Bronx Zoo. Bronx Zoo is really big, I went there twice. It took one day to see whole Zoo. We had lunch outside and we came home around 4:00pm.

Cleaning house

Today I spent whole day to clean my house. My kids made mess in my bed room. I started cleaning from my bed room closet, and then I cleaned whole room, and then whole house. My kids were watching TV that’s why I could do that. I cleaned my kitchen very neatly. It wasn’t easy job, but I did it. My husband helped me little bit because he was working from home. Now I got very tired and I want to sleep as soon as possible. My kids just slept ten minutes ago. Good night eveybody.

Today

Today I spent whole day outside. First, I and my husband dropped my son for his Punjabi class, and then we went to our Temple. We spent an hour in the Temple, and then we picked up my son from the school. After that we went to Pizza Hut, and we had our lunch there. My kids were happy because they like pizza a lot and me too. After that we went to shopping center, and shop little bit. Around six’ clock we came back home. It was nice day for me and my family.

Writing Center

Today, I went to the writing center. I had an appointment with Prof. Halfman. I took my writing with me which was about the story of the ‘The Big Fat Greek Marriage’ movie.  I didn’t write the name of the movie, and I explained the movie in detail. Prof told me to read the story. After three or four sentences she said, “Stop! Is it not ‘The Big Fat Greek Marriage’ movie?” I said, “Yes.” She told me that this is her favorite movie, and she saw this movie many times. Then we discussed about movie very well. It was nice discursion. After completed the calss I came back home.

Movie

Hi guys, it was raining today. I don’t like rain, and I don’t want to go out in the rain, but I would like to see a movie in rainy day. Prof. soffer showed us movie. It was very interesting movie we didn’t finished it hopefully it will finish tomorrow. I am curious about to see the end that what happened in the wedding. I learned many vocabulary words from that movie.

Hi guys, in a last blog I mentioned about my father in law’ illness. He is still sick, and he has many pimples on his body. Today he went to see the doctor. Doctor gave him medicines, and he stopped a few medicines which he took on regular basses. Doctor though may be these pills are reason for allergy. Doctor took samples of his skin, and sent to the laboratory to find out what is the problem. It will take week or so then will know what the decease is. I hope he recover soon.

Wedding Anniversary

Today is my wedding anniversary. I got married in 2002. After that day my life became changed. We just celebrated little bit our wedding anniversary. We made some Indian snakes, and eat together. We had planned to go out today, and see a movie but suddenly my father in law got sick, and we admitted him in the hospital. He got allergy from some Madison. He spent whole day in the emergency but now he is at home. Doctor said, now he is ok, and you can take him home. Still, he is not ok. He has big pimples on his body. It wasn’t fun today on my wedding anniversaries day. I am very worried about my father in law. I hope he will get soon.

Surprise Party

Today I am going to tell you my weekend. On Saturday we went to 25 wedding anniversary party of a couple who we know for long time. It was the surprised party arranged by the Kids of the couple. They didn’t tell to their parents that we have arranged party for them. Kids told to their parents on anniversary’s day that our friend has a party, and they invited us so we have to go there. Finally, kids took their parents in the restaurant where the party was arranged. It was very exciting moments. As soon as they enter the party hall they were shocked to find out that party was for them. It was very nice party, and kids arranged it very well. They invited their all the relatives and friends.

April fool

Today is April 1, 2011, and nine years ago I got engaged with my husband on same date. I cannot forget that day because it was very special day for me. My brother was kidding with me. He said, “I don’t think he will come to engage with you because today is April fool. I knew that he was just pulling my legs. After that my husband and his family came my house, and me and my husband got engaged each other. After one week we got married. I had enraged marriage, and it happened very quickly.

Rice Pudding

Hi guys, I want to share with you an Indian sweet dish recipe. It’s called Kheer (Rice Pudding). Kheer is very easy to make. To make rice pudding we need one cup rice, 4-5 cups milk, little bit of chopped almonds, and sugar according to your taste. Put milk and rice together in the pan, and heat to boil. Make sure to keep stirring it. Otherwise it will stick in the buttom of the pan. Once milk gets boiled then slow down the stove, and put the almonds and sugar.  Keep it on the stove until the rice cooked. Let rice and milk mix together, and then turn off the stove. After one hour put the kheer in the refrigerator, and serve it cold. Try it hopefully you will like it.

Today

Today I was very busy. After came back from college, I went to drop my father-in-law at his work. At 2:30pm I went to pick up my son from his school. After that I took him for his swimming class. I did my homework, and then I got phone call from my son’s doctor because he had appointment for regular check up, and I totally forget that. I get ready quickly, and we went to the doctor. We came back at 8:00pm. It was really busy day.

Weekend

I want to tell you about my weekend. My weekend was very busy; Saturday I went to Maryland with my family. We started from home around 6:30am, and we reached there around 10:30 a.m. Weather was very chilly that day. My kids had fun there because there were many kids. We enjoyed the program, and had lunch. We stayed there for four and half hours, and then we came back home. In the evening there was little traffic so it took little longer to reach home. We came back home around 7:30pm. It was nice outing but I got tired because it was a long drive.

Sunday

Sunday, I went to my Temple with my family. We started from my home around 12pm. After reaching there, we did our prayer, and we sat in the hall to listen to our religion kirtan (religious hymns). There were many groups who were singing kirtan. After three or four groups one American group came on the stage. They started singing our kirtan. Even though, they didn’t know how to speak Punjabi they explained our religion very well in English. They wore Indian clothes. I felt proud about my religion that people from other culture has adopted it.

Feeling Lonely

Today, I am feeling very lonely even though my family with me. I am missing my parents a lot. They are very far away from me. They are living in India. Many times I told them that come here and live with me but they don’t want to come here. They thought they can’t live with me because I am living in joint family, and it’s very tough to live with other family. I think they are right because their very happy in India. Now I’m not forcing them to come here. I’ll call them at night, and after that I’ll be ok.         

Story

I am going to tell you about a story which I read in last week. There was woman around 50 years old. Her name was Elly. She was very depressed because her husband left her, and every day she stands near to pool, and spends hours there. She thought her life was almost done, she didn’t want to live. One man whose name was Debee , watches her every day, and he decided to help her.  Debee went near to Elly and said, your husband is very bad person because he left you alone. You should not think about him. You have to come out from your depression, and you have to look at those people who need you. For example sick people, homeless people. Debee said you Have to cry then you can come out from your depression, he said many bad things about his husband. Finally, she cried a lot. She felt herself so relaxed. Elly decided to help needed people, and then she got a goal to live her left life. Her life became very happiness. She was thankful to Debee because he gave her new life.

Nice weather

Weather was very nice yesterday. Finally, we got nice weather. I went for an evening walk around 7’o clock with my husband and son. After many days we went to walk, and I felt so relaxed myself. We spent an hour or so outside. In the way, I told the story of movie (BIG) to my husband which we saw in the class. He said it’s very nice story, and he said you have to watch English movies regularly then you can improve your English. Around 8’0 clock we came back home, and I prepared dinner.

Birthday

Yesterday was my son’s birthday. He just turned eight. I was very busy Yesterday. In the morning around 10’clock we went to our Temple. We prayed and listened to our holy rhymes sung by the priests.  We prepared food for 70-80 people, and served it. We came back home at 3:30pm, and then we went to TOY’ R US. My son was so excited to buy new toys. He bought new bike, and few toys. Then we came back home and cut the cake, and ate pizza, danced a bit and went to bed.

Speech

Today was my speech. I wasn’t scared because I had good topic to speak, but I was little nervous because I never gave that kind of speech earlier. Today was first time, when I spoke in front of the class. I don’t know how it was, but I tried my best. I think this is a good idea to improve your speaking skills. I want to speak more frequently for that I need more speaking projects. I like this class because I am learning many English rules. Now I think I am moving in the right direction.  

Conversation Partner

Yesterday, I met my conversation partner. It was very nice meeting with her. She took me to main campus.  During driving she comunicated with me.She showed me many things which I didn't know. First, we went to her office, it was in "V" building. Then we went to book store, there she told me all the rules about book store. We drove around the campus, then we came back in North Annex. She is an english teacher, and she is teaching english reading classes.I have a another appontment with her in next Monday. She told me next time we will eat lunch together. I am looking forward to the next meeting with her.

Topic

I want to discuss about one topic.” In some cultures women and men are expected to wait until after they are married to live together.” I agree with this statement. Different countries have different customs about marriage.  In some countries people legally can stay together before marriage but in some countries people cannot live together before marriage. According to my culture women and men cannot live together until they get married. I think this is a good decision to live separate before marriage. Marriage is that decision which people have to take very carefully. This is the decision which will make people’s lives better or worse. Before marriage, people have to understand your partner that is very important, but not by living together.

     To stay with your partner before marriage that decision makes the life boring after marriage. Your excitement and attraction will finish because that exciting moments you spent before marriage those moments cannot come back. If people want to enjoy your married life you better stay separately before marriage.

Dinner

It is 7’o clock in the evening and now I am thinking what I should make in the dinner. It is very tough to decide every day.  Every day I ask to everyone in the family what should I make and they say, whatever you make we will eat. Now I am thinking better I should make a schedule that this thinks I will make on Sunday, another on Monday so on. Then my life will much easier. I think today I am going to make egg plants with Indian style. But I am not sure maybe when I go to kitchen my mind will change.

Story

I want to tell you about a story which I read last week. The story took place in Sweden. Carl and his family lived in Sweden. He had three sons and wife. There wasn’t rain since two years. People were hungry; they don’t have food to eat. The earth had cracked because there was no rain. One day Carl got a letter from his cousin who was living in America. Carl’s cousin said came to America I have a house and enough food. Carl decided that they are going to America. They sold their house and all property to arrange the American tickets. Finally, they started for America. In the ship they faced many problems. After three days they went America, and met their relatives. They felt that they have a new life. Every things looks like a dream for them. They were very happy after reaching America.

Punjabi Bread

I want to tell you about Punjabi potato stuffed bread. I like this bread very much. In my home everybody likes that bread. This bread is very easy to make. To make potato stuffed bread we need wheat flour and boiled potatoes. Make dough ready and mash the potatoes nicely. Put some spice in the potatoes mixture like: salt, red chili, black pepper and green coriander leaves, and mix it together. Using dough make two flat bread and put the mixture between those breads. Take non stick pan and fry that bread on the pan. Eat it with butter and yogurt. This is very delicious bread and is usually served in breakfast.

Vacations

Vacations are going on. I am spending maximum time with my husband and my family. Time is flying. Every day I think I have to complete this work today and this work tomorrow. But I can’t do any work because my son has also vacation, and I am so busy at home. Few guests came from my country a week ago. They’re going to live two more weeks in our house. It’s tough for me to manage everything. Two more days left and I have to finish my homework. O’ My GOD! My life is so busy. But It is ok I get everybody’s support at home.

Gidda

I am going to tell you about Indian dance Gidda. Gidda is a folk dance like other Indian dances. This is very much an affair of the legs and hands. It is like a circle dance. There is group of girls make a circle and each time two girls sing a song, and dance in the middle. I like Gidda. I usually do this dance in some family function. But I cannot do very well. Shopping

Yesterday I went to shopping mall to buy some stuff. The weather was nice not too cold and not too hot. I enjoyed shopping. I bought a few bed sheet sets and kids clothes. I like to shop for girl’s clothes.  I bought one dress for my niece. My niece was very happy; she likes the dress very much. The shopping mall is very near from my house. It takes five to ten minutes to go there. I went there around 5pm and came back at 8pm.

Birthday party

I am going to tell you about my weekend. Yesterday was my uncle’s granddaughter’s birthday. She just turned two. She is very cute girl with long hair and fair skin. They arranged party in their house. We went there around 10 am. First they had breakfast then religious program for two hours. After that they cut the cake. People gave present to birthday girl. My kids enjoyed a lot. It was very nice time for kids because there was many other kids. Around 2pm we ate lunch. Then people did dance on Indian’s songs, around 6pm we came back home.

Indian Movie

I want to tell you about an Indian movie which I saw yesterday. Movie’s name was Chan Pardesi . There was a couple whose loved each other a lot.’ Girls name was Soni and boys name was Nek. They both were poor guys and worked in a farm. Landlord was a bad guy, he liked Soni too. One day the landlord told to Nek that you have to go very far away to work in his farms. Then landlord raped Soni and she became pregnant. She decided to keep the baby. When Nek came back and found about all this, he was very angry. His life’s purpose was to take revenge from the landlord. He became a bandit and started living in far away jungles. After few months baby boy was born to Soni. Farmer also was married to another woman and he got baby girl. When Soni’s son became young he was very handsome boy. He loved a beautiful girl. Many times soni’s son asked about his father but Soni didn’t tell him anything. When he knew that the landlord was his father he was furious. But after some time Soni’s son started to realize that landlord’s daughter is my sister and he started taking care of her. One day Nek put up fire on landlord’s farms, the farms got burned, and he looted his all money. Landlord became a poor man. One day Nek was hit by police’s bullet and landlord’s daughter saved Nek’s life. After this incidient Nek started to have a soft corner for landlord’s daughter. In the end landlord felt sorry and he requested Soni and Nek to forgive him. Nek found that the girl who saved his life is landlord’s daughter. Then Soni and Nek took the decision that they will live together and Soni’s son was very happy. Then he got married with his beloved.

Conversation Partner

I am going to tell you guy's about my first meeting with conversation partner. My partners name is Stella Fox. She is English professor in NCC. She is a very nice lady. She is around 50 years old, and she has three kids. Two boys and one daughter. Her older son is marred, and he has one daughter. We discuss general information with each other. She asked me a few questions about my personal life. She asked me about my class, about my teacher, and how you feel in the class. I spent nice time with her. I like her because she is flaxible. She said I can come anywhere, where you feel good.I think it will help me to improve my communication skill.

Novel

I am going to discuss about my Novel. My Novel’s name is ‘Twelve Gender Tearjerkers’. It has twelve chapters. First chapter is ‘Unfaithful husband’. There was woman, her son, her daughter, and her husband John lived together. Usually, John comes late home, and every time he made new excuse.  One day he came late, and he told to her wife that he has some relationship with other woman and he want to marry with her. So, he is going to live with her, and he went to live with her. Woman’s neighbor ED likes her, and wants to marry with her. She doesn’t want to marry with him because she still loves with John. After a few years John came back home, and he said that woman he was living with her in a hospital because she has a cancer. After a few days she died. Now, John wants to come back in her life.  But she didn’t accept him. She said she can take care her children, and herself. She doesn’t need any body’s help. It was very nice story.

My Daily Schedule

I would like to tell you about my daily schedule. I wake up around 4:30 – 5:00am. Then I do brush on my teeth. After taking shower I do my prayer. Around 6:30 I try to wake up my son because he takes time to wake up. Then I get ready to him for school. His school starts at 8:05am. I start for school at 7:30am.I spend four hours and fifteen minutes there. I reach home around 1:45pm. My son come back home at 2:30pm.Then I do my homework, and around 6:00pm I start preparing dinner. After eat dinner around 11:00pm I go to bed. That’s all I want to share with you.

Writing Center

I want to tell you about my first day in the writing center. Last week I made an appointment for writing center. Friday I went there in Y building. I had a appointment with Prof. Hoffman. I reached there on time, and I took my writing sample with me. She made corrections in the writing sample. She gave me many hints to improve my writing. I asked her many question about part of speech, and she gave me answers very nicely. I like writing center, and I'll go every week there.

About Weekend

I'm going to discuss about my weekend. We had birthday party at home. My nephew just turned five. In the weekend I was very busy. Saturday whole day we spend in the Gurdwara Sahib (Temple).We prepared food around 500 people. Sunday morning all our relative and we went to Temple. There we did prayer, and we had breakfast and lunch. We all went home there we cut the cake. Then we had snakes and we did dance a lot. Around 10:00pm party was done and every body left. After that we cleaned home and I fell asleep. It was verrrrrrrry busy weekend.

My Childhood

I am going to tell you about my childhood. I born in India. I have two brothers and one sister. I am a younger one in my family. Everybody love me a lot.My brothers and sister are married. And they have their own families. My brothers are live together with my parents.I completed my study in India.When I was 22 years old I got married. After marriage I came here in New York. First time I went India after two years and second time after five years. Some time I miss my parents a lot. But now I am so busy in my family.

Yesterday's happning

I am going to tell you about what happened with me yesterday. Day before yesterday night, I slept early around 10:30pm, I didn’t check my email. Yesterday, I woke up at 4:30am. I took shower then, I did my prayer. I was going to wake up my son then I got call from my son’s school. They said today school is canceled. Then I thought, maybe I don’t have a class today. I checked NCC site there was massage ‘Today morning classes are canceled, like that. Then I slept again and woke up around 8:30am.

First Day In New York

I am going to tell you about my first day in the New York. I came here in June 2002.That time I was newlywed. My husband went to India to bring me here. In the plane, I was so excited to see New York. When we reached here my husband’s whole family and relatives came to the airport to welcome us. After reaching home, we had a party at home. Then you know what happened, I went to bathroom and I got stuck there because bathroom’s look wasn’t good. I wasn’t able to open the door. Then I called my husband, he entered in the bathroom from back window. And he opened the door. I could never forget that day.

Shopping

Hi, everyone. How are you? I want to share with you about my shopping hobby. I love shopping, doesn't matter what kind of shopping. In the free time I would like to go to shopping with my husband, and kids. My kids don't want to spend more time in the shopping mall except the 'TOY'S R US'. They are crazy about toys. I like to buy everything related to my house. This is fun, and we can spend time together.

Weekend

    I would like to tell you about my weekend. My weekend was very busy. Saturday I woke up at my regular time and I made breakfast for everybody. I played for some time with my kids. Then I cleaned my room very neatly and we bought a new bed with drawers. Whole day I spent to fill up the stuff in the bed drawers. It’s very big and nice bed. I put lot of stuff there but still it has some space to put more stuff. Then I did my homework, after that ate dinner and slept.   

Friends

I'm going to tell you about my friends. In India I had many friends and I enjoyed lot with them. After came in USA I never meet them. some time I miss them but now , they all are married and there has their own families. Even I don't know there's address and phone numbers. But my one friend is here in New York after got married she came here. I have a contact with her. She came my house many times and I went her house. I feel good after talk to her.

Hobbies

     I am going to write about my hobbies. I like drawing and fabric painting. When I was in India I draw many flowers and animals on the bed sheets, pillows and towels. Last time when I went to India my mom put that bed sheet on the bed which I made 10 years ago. I was so happy to see that my mom kept that bed sheet for long time.
     I would like to do painting now, but I don't get free time to do that.When I was in the school, drawing was one of my subjects. Since then, my interest in drawing and painting increased and I started to do fabric painting.

Today

I am going to write about today. Today was a snowy day and I woke up at my regular time.I wasn't sure whether there is a class today or not. I tried to find out on NCC web site but I couldn't find anything. I thought there should be class. I looked outside, my car was stuck in the snow. It was very beautiful outside and everything was white. I like snow, sometimes I make snowman with my kids.

      Then my husband cleaned my car for me. I started from home at 7:30am and roads were slippery. I drove very carefully. When I reached in the class there was few students and Prof. Elain. After couple of minutes few more students came. They were late because of bad weather. I enjoyed class and learned many new things. I came back home at 12:40pm.

About My Family

This is my first blog and I'am going  to write about my family.I have two kids.They both are very cute. Most of the time I spend with them.My husband is a computer engineer. He alway's suport me.I am living in joint family which is very big.All the family members are very nice.That's all I want share with you. Take care everyone.
